Marienberg is the highest situated
railway station in the saxon Middle Ore Mountains. Therefore it's the ideal
starting point for bike trips without big ascents. Up to the top of Drei
Brueder Hoehe with its 360° panorama it's just 100 metres altitude. By the
way you can refresh yourself in the outdoor pool Mooshaide. At the other
side of the ridge you enjoy 300 metres downhill run into the Zschopau
Valley. During the whole passage from Drei Brueder Hoehe until Altes Gericht
there's a nice view ower countless mountain ridges and valleys up to the
Auersberg in the distance. There are also cultural delicacies on this tour:
the mining town Marienberg, the historical bastioned church in Grossruecker-swalde
and the medieval town of Wolkenstein with the renaissance castle.

The Family route
From
the railway station Marienberg
a hiking and bike trail runs
gradually into the Wolfsberg gap and further on the ridge southwards. A
quick side-trip to the top of
Drei-Brueder-Hoehe
with the view tower is
worthwhile
especially at good visibility conditions.
Via Schindelbach we roll on
cartways and
minor roads
down into
the Pressnitz
Valley, where
we follow the bikeway
on the former railway.
Unfortunately, the bikeway isn´t finished up to Wolkenstein, so that we have
to use the road for the last 3 kilometres.
