The Natzschung Valley

The Natzschung creek rises in 810 m altitude in one of the biggest fens of the Ore Mountains, the nature reserve Novodomské raseliniste. Up here several lakes remind the former hammers and sawmills in Nacetín and Kalek, where today time seems to stand still. Between the rocks Stoesserfelsen and Kamenný vrch (842 m) the creek roars through a 300 m deep gorge, where there standed the village Gabrielahuetten until year 1946, which has completely vanished. The past comes alive in the copper hammer „Saigerhütte“ in Grünthal.

The Panoramic route

We start at the railway station Grünthal, ride on forest roads up the right slope. From the small creek „Kleines Steinbachtal“ we recommend a excursion to the view point Stoesserfelsen (approx. 2 km). Mountainbikers can use the direct hiking trail E 3 from Rothenthal here (dotted line). Further we drive round Rübenau. Recommendable are excursions to the rocky view points Steinhübel (817 m) and Cíhadlo (842 m) as well as from Kalek into the Novodomské fens to the source of the Natzschung. From Kalek we follow the bikeway 23 through the upper Telc Valley to the Rudolický lake and further without marking down to Brandov and back to Grünthal. On the last kilometres we have fantastic views into Telc, Natzschung und Floeha valleys.
