Profil across the Ore Mountains
This route shows the Ore Mountains in profile –
geographically, historically an culturally. No matter where you start the
trip, glancing over the ridge you will be surprised!
At the north face you find romantic valleys like Telc
and Schweinitz/ Svidnice. The mining and handicraft traditions are still
alive in the mining towns und villages. Experience a miner´s parade or
discover the deep of the mountains in the visitor´s mine in
Deutschkatharinenberg. Obligatory is a visit in Seiffen, the home of the
wood carver and turner.
At the south face the mountains steeply decline into the Bohemian Basin. The
view across the plain to the Bohemian Middle Mountains is full of contrasts.
Some large surface mines lie like gaping wounds in the pleasing landscape.
At their edge the castles Jezeri and Cerveny Hradek buck the hunger of the
diggers and keep the region a piece of its history.

Jirkov
The Panoramic route
This unmarked route can be recommended only for trained
bikers, because it includes steep ascents and a total altitude
difference of 1200 metres. Between the Jezeri Castle and Zeberska lipa
we recommend to wheel the bike for approx. 600 metres, as the path is
steep an declivitous in that passage.
